Adding Content¶
Your course page is organized into blocks (collapsible sections). Within each block, you can add multiple types of items. This page covers how to build out your course structure.
Course Blocks¶
Blocks group related content — typically by week, unit, or topic. To manage blocks:
- Add a block — click "Add Block" at the bottom of your course page
- Rename a block — click the block's edit icon
- Reorder blocks — drag the block handle on the left
- Hide/show a block — toggle visibility for students without deleting the block
Adding Items to a Block¶
Click "Add Item" inside any block to open the item picker. Available item types:
Assessment¶
A graded assignment — homework, quiz, test, or practice set. See Assessment Settings for full configuration options.
Text Item¶
A short note or instruction that appears directly on the course page. Use this for block introductions, reminders, or announcements.
Link¶
A clickable link to a file, external website, or document. You can upload a file (PDF, Word doc, etc.) or paste a URL. Students see the link title on the course page.
Forum¶
A threaded discussion board. You can create multiple forums in a single course. Each forum has its own thread list, and students can reply to threads or start new ones.
Drill¶
A repeated practice exercise that students can run multiple times. Drills are useful for building procedural fluency on specific skills.
Inline Text¶
Rich text and media embedded directly in the course layout — not in a separate panel. Useful for images, formatted instructions, or embedded media.
Folders¶
Use folders to group related items within a block without creating a new block. Click "Add Folder" within a block, give it a name, then add items inside it. Students see the folder as a collapsible group on the course page.
Reordering Items¶
Drag any item by its handle to move it within a block or into a folder. You can also move items between blocks using the item's context menu ("Move to block...").
Setting Item Visibility¶
Each item has a visibility toggle. Hidden items are not visible to students but remain in the course for future use. You can also schedule visibility by date in assessment settings.
Copying Content¶
To copy an assessment, link, or other item from another course you own:
- Click "Add Item" → "Copy from course"
- Select the source course
- Browse and select the item
Copied assessments bring their question sets; you can then edit the copy independently.
